ADAPT’s training system is composed of such capacity building segments as: workshops,
short-duration courses, group discussion sessions, tutorials and rigorous
training programs.
ADAPT
relies on the participatory
experiential training model, which is based on the following two basic
principles:
|
1. |
Using the previous experience, skills and knowledge of
participants during the training session
as a foundation to reflect upon and absorb the new knowledge / concepts
being taught. |
|
2. |
Participants learn best by actively
engaging in activities to reinforce what is being learnt. |
The
key is to ensure that participants are able to draw on their
existing skill and knowledge-base to first understand the new skill or
knowledge and then to demonstrate an understanding of how the new skill or
knowledge will be applied to their personal or professional life. Therefore,
ADAPT's capacity building specialists use a wide array of training techniques /
activities to:
§
Encourage
participation;
§
Enhance interaction between participants;
§
Encourage experience sharing; as well as
§
Facilitate and reinforce
learning of
the new skill or knowledge.
